This year has seen some stylish ensembles on and off the red carpet — and some stars in particular have stood out from the crowd.

From royals to veteran TV and movie stars, there have been some elegant and very bold looks.

In no particular order, here are Starts at 60’s best-dressed stars of 2018.

Susan Sarandon

When it comes to style inspiration for over-60s, it’s hard to go past Susan Sarandon.

Never one to shy away from trying a different fashion style, the 71-year-old actress has sported an array of daring outfits over the past 12 months.

In March, Susan rocked an eclectic hippy-meets-biker chick look at a screening in New York. The Hollywood veteran mixed an unusual black leather jacket embroidered with flowers with loose black trousers, cowboy boots, fashionable round sunglasses and a baker-boy cap.

And in October, the award-winning actress strutted the red carpet in a fabulous pair of knee-high red boots and a figure-hugging black dress.

Jane Fonda

If there was a clear red carpet winner from 2018, it had to be Jane Fonda. The actress has proven that even the simplest of outfits can still look amazing.

Highlighting her fabulous fashion sense, Jane stepped out in a pair of funky green pants and a skin-tight black sweater for an event in Paris earlier this year. Jane spruced up the outfit with a simple gold necklace and a classic pair of black suede boots.

The 80-year-old pulled out another show-stopping look in November, this time donning an elegant black gown as she attended the Trophée des Arts Gala in New York City.

Rod Stewart

There are style risk-takers, and then there’s Rod Stewart.

The 73-year-old has never been one to shy away from an eccentric outfit, and has been seen in everything from fur to leather in 2018.

In May, the ‘Maggie May’ singer unveiled some bizarre footwear when he went to see the Pope. He wore a floral shirt and a clashing jacket for the occasion, which he paired with Gucci floral fur-lined loafers.

When it comes to a pop of colour, you can always rely on Kerri-Anne Kennerley.

And while she made headlines earlier this year in a beautiful blue sheer frock, it was her stunning Logie’s red gown that really stood out.

The Aussie icon, 64, dressed for the occasion in the glamorous gown, which featured dramatic sleeves and a plunging neckline.

Queen Elizabeth

Sticking to her favourite uniform of a shift dress accessorised with a hat, gloves and pearls, Queen Elizabeth has stunned all year round.

However it was her bright fuchsia dress, which she wore to a private dinner party at Windsor Castle in March, that really stole the show.

The 92-year-old monarch also swapped out her favourite black leather handbag, which she is often pictured with, for a gold designer piece for the occasion.

If there’s any star that loves a ’70s throwback, it’s Goldie Hawn.

Metallics, flared pants, florals and big hair, the 72-year-old actress has sported an array of wild outfits over the past 12 months.

In August, Goldie stepped out in a floral blue jumpsuit as she attended the Wild Wild Country filmmaker toast in California. The groovy one-piece featured an assorted mix of patterns, a stylish beaded front and delicate spaghetti straps.

Jeff Goldblum is one of Hollywood’s sharpest dressers. The actor can pull off animal print, leather pants, gold suits and indoor hats, and still nail it every single time.

His favourite street style often features a blazer, turtle neck, checkered pants, and some serious statement shoes.

But, the Jurassic Park star can also dress for the red carpet, such as this all-white tuxedo and leather boots he wore for the screening of The Mountain at the 75th Venice Film Festival in August.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall

If you’re going to be a Queen Consort one day, you might as well dress like one from get-go.

Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, is often seen in smart, colourful skirts and jackets reminiscent of the monarch’s own wardrobe. Earlier this year, the duchess, 71, famously wore a statement pearl choker — very similar to one the Queen has worn in the past

It’s not the first time Camilla has surprised with a statement accessory. During a royal tour to Africa in November, all eyes were on the royal’s fashion choices — and her cherry-printed clutch bag, which she paired with a stylish turquoise tunic.

However it was her gorgeous champagne-coloured gown, which she wore in Greece, that really stood out. The dress, which was designed by Fiona Clare, featured a delicate silver pattern and billowed out from her waist.

Christie Brinkley

If you thought entering your 60’s meant you had to tone down things in the style stakes, think again.

The ever-stylish Christie Brinkley has sported an array of gorgeous and revealing outfits over the past 12 months. Of course, it helps that she can pull off just about any look.

In May, the 64-year-old looked sensational in an all-white ensemble, which included an one-shoulder top with a pair of matching wide-leg pants, as she attended the Bella magazine beauty issue party in New York City.

Judi Dench

Dame Judi Dench is internationally renowned as one of the world’s greatest actresses and she never fails to portray that timelessness on the red carpet, regularly opting for understated elegance over dazzling frocks and gowns.

And the 83-year-old’s latest outfit choice was one of her most sensational to date as she stepped out at the 14th annual Zurich Film Festival in October wearing a flowing sheer black jacket, which was covered in intricate gold embroidery.

Wearing a flowing black dress and black court shoes beneath her striking choice of jacket, Judi let the eye-catching golden detailing do all of the talking as she accessorised the outfit with just a simple gold chain.
