A man was coming around from anaesthesia after surgery, with his wife sitting beside him.

As his eyes fluttered open, he murmured, “You’re beautiful!” before drifting back to sleep.

His wife, having never heard those words from him before, stayed by his side, touched. A few minutes later, he woke again and said, “You’re cute!”

Feeling a bit let down as “beautiful” had downgraded to “cute,” she asked, “What happened to ‘beautiful’?”

He responded, “The drugs are wearing off!”
