Easter is just around the corner and if you’re looking for a new recipe to try, this caramel and apple sponge cake might be the perfect option.
The super-easy recipe was shared on social media this week by a clever home cook and, not only does it look delicious, it can also be left to cook in the slow cooker leaving plenty of time for other fun activities.
Taking to Facebook this week the anonymous cook explained it only takes three ingredients to put together – tinned apple slices, packet cake mix, caramel sauce – and just one pantry staple, butter.
“Dessert tonight was so yummy – 2 cans of apple pie filling into my sprayed cooker,” the post on Facebook page Slow Cooker Recipe and Tips read.
“Then 1 cup of caramel evenly spread over the top of apples, 2 packets of cake mix only and 250 grams of melted butter.”
She continued: “Combine [the] cake mix and butter and then spread evenly over the top. [Place a] Tea towel under the lid and cook on high for 3 hours and 45 minutes. Served with ice cream. This served 6 easy with leftovers.”
Meanwhile, if the caramel and apple cake doesn’t take your fancy, perhaps these 3-ingredient lemonade scones will be a better option – as you don’t even need any milk or eggs.
One savvy mum made headlines recently with the simple recipe which was shared to the Slow Cooker Recipe and Tips Facebook group. She explained the family favourite was made with just three ingredients — one cup of cream, two cups of lemonade and three cups of self-raising flour.
“My husband made the slow cooker scones today,” she wrote. “They turned out delicious. So fluffy and light, it’s amazing.”
To make the lemonade scones, her husband mixed the cream, lemonade and self-raising flour in a bowl and gently combined. He then rolled out the mixture on a floured surface and cut out the scone pieces.
He then placed the scones in the slow cooker, lined with baking paper, and brushed the top with a little milk. The scones were left to cook for 90 minutes with a tea towel under the lid, before being served.
Group members praised the woman for the easy hack, with one person commenting: “Many thanks. Can’t wait to try.” Another added: “I use the same recipe, only takes 10 minutes in the oven.”
