According to research just released, a cuppa is still of vital importance to the over 50 population.
The inaugural Origin Energy Essentials report revealed that 52% of over 60s rank the kettle as the fourth most important appliance in the home.
Other findings from the study include the 60-64 age group being the only one to rate the washing machine as the most essential item in the home, while all other age groups, including the 50-59s, said the fridge-freezer was number one.
When it came to the least important appliance, the youngsters felt the bread maker needn’t be there, while the 50-59s would throw the games console out first and the 60-64s said the DVD player was bottom of the list.
Apparently everyone’s in agreement that the TV is the most enjoyable item in the home – everyone, that is, except the youngsters (18-29-year-olds) who thought nothing was more fun than their phones.
Interestingly, the report also revealed that women prefer devices that let them move around the house freely, while the men prefer appliances that they can use while stationery.
