Actor Mickey Rourke is seeking help to pay his rent as he faces eviction.
The former Hollywood leading man owes $80,000 in rent on his Los Angeles abode, according to court documents, and is encouraging his followers to donate to a GoFundMe page called Support Mickey to Prevent Eviction.
“Life doesn’t always move in a straight line, and despite everything Mickey has given through his work and his life, he is now dealing with a challenging financial moment that has put his housing at risk,” the page reads.
“The goal is to give Mickey some stability and peace of mind during a stressful time so he can stay in his home and have the space to get back on his feet. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference.”
Documents obtained by the Daily Mail newspaper, which had been filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on December 29, stated he was handed the notice on December 18.
Plaintiff Eric T. Goldie claimed the Iron Man II star owed $80,000 in unpaid rent. According to the lawsuit, the rent was raised to $US7000 in his second month of occupancy. Goldie is looking to end the lease, and have Rourke pay his attorney fees.
The Wrestler star recently admitted his career is “in the toilet” after making some mistakes in the past, and he has struggled to book jobs because of his bad boy reputation.
“I’ve made mistakes, many. I have nobody to blame for my ship sinking except myself,” he told The Sun newspaper in April.
“My career is in the toilet and I’m not getting A-list movies. I’d like to be back where I can work on movies that have integrity.”
“There’s directors I want to work with and have them not be afraid of me and trust me for who I am today, not for the reputation I have. But once it goes past a certain point, I’ve got a short fuse – there’s no turning back. It’s on.”
On his participation in Celebrity Big Brother UK, it was a choice between the reality show “or a really bad independent movie”.
However, he was ejected from the program’s house by producers. Fellow contestant JoJo Siwa had accused him of “homophobic” language after overhearing him say he would “vote the lesbian out real quick”.
Rourke was ejected after what was described as “threatening and aggressive” behaviour towards Chris Hughes, who defended the former Dance Moms star Siwa.
A spokesperson for the show said at the time: “Mickey Rourke has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house this evening following a discussion with Big Brother regarding further use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behaviour.”
