She’s one of Australia’s most popular newsreaders and Natarsha Belling has revealed she took a nasty fall while shopping recently.

The Ten Eyewitness News presenter took to her Instagram page on Tuesday to inform her 11.3 thousand followers she fell down an escalator while grocery shopping on Monday. Along with a description of what happened, the 48-year-old shared a gnarly photo of her horrific injury.

“So, someone once said shopping can be dangerous… here’s proof!” she wrote. “Very sore and sorry today after falling 12 steps down an escalator. And I was sober!

“Thank you to all the kind people who helped me and to the wonderful doctors and nurses for putting me back together! P.S Please excuse the crutches and hopping as I co-host @curecancerau fundraiser tonight!”

Elaborating on her fall, the journalist spoke to the Daily Telegraph and explained that she thought her injuries were a lot more serious than what they were.

“I thought I’d broken my back and I have cuts all down my leg, it looks like a shark has attacked me,” she told the publication. “I am very lucky and I am okay.”

And, while many people in her situation would consider legal action, Belling said she wouldn’t be taking the shopping centre where the fall occurred to court. She said she was wearing heels at the time of the accident and missed the first step of the escalator before falling.

She was taken to a Sydney hospital where she was treated, bur was released shortly after.

Fans of the presenter rushed to her Instagram page to offer their support.

One person wrote: “Omg Tarsh….. that is awful!!!! Tell me you changed your shoes before hosting.”

Another comment read: “Oh my goodness you will be sore tomorrow. I hope you’re feeling better soon. Ouch!”

A third added: “You poor thing!!! Wow that looks so so sore! Hope you are feeling ok and maybe take the stairs, with the handrail now.”

Belling isn’t the only public figure to have taken a fall in recent times. Australian singer Jimmy Barnes was rushed to hospital late last week after falling through a stage he was performing on at the Mt Isa Rodeo.

The 62-year-old reportedly suffered a deep cut and bruising on his thigh and joked about the incident on Twitter shortly after.

“Thanks for all the messages, it’s just a stage I’m going through,” he joked. “I’m fine, thanks everyone.”

What do you think? Have you ever taken a fall? How quickly did it take you to recover?
