Feeling Down? 10 Tips to Make You Happier Today

Share:

Being happy is so important as it is a mood that is set off by the release of endorphins, a set of hormones that do so many wonderful things for our bodies.

Instead of trying to force happiness always, you can start to incorporate some things into your life to help you stay positive and give you happiness naturally.

We’ve listed ten of our favourite ways to build some more happiness into your life…

Spend time outdoors.

You should at least spend fifteen minutes outside every day. Sunshine gives you a boost of vitamin D and breathing in fresh air helps to clear the mind and will even boost your circulation. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to depression so this little boost will have big rewards.

Keep engaged with your old friends and reminisce.

Nostalgia is good for you – it has been scientifically proven! Talking about happy memories with people you love boosts your spirit and will help you to feel connected and loved.

Play with your pet.

If you don’t have one, borrow someone else’s! Animals, especially cute ones, keep us happy! When we find something “Cute” a number of hormones are released including the “love” hormone and endorphins so being furry friendly will give your mood a lift.

Volunteer.

Volunteering is so important for your own self-appreciation. It is so gratifying giving up your time for someone else’s needs. Not only will you feel great but you’ll make a difference to other people’s lives too.

Exercise.

Exercise releases endorphins. It is that simple. For just 30 minutes walk, run, cycle or stretch and your mood will be boosted. This is so important for your mental health as well as physical.

Eat and drink vegetables and fruits.

Fruits and vegetables have so many nutrients that flush the body of toxins and will give you a great mood booster. Enjoy them every day to keep your mind and body healthy.

Spend some time on yourself.

Whether it’s playing a round of golf, getting your nails done or reading your favourite book, spending time for yourself is so important. Relax and let your mind go to feel happy again.
