Streaming platform services like Stan have made self-isolation during Covid-19 just that bit easier with a seemingly endless stream of incredible content. From documentaries to Hollywood blockbusters, the Australian streaming service has everything you can imagine to fill your day with.

But Stan is also well known for being one of the best platforms for creating and streaming some of the top TV shows on the market. So here are some of Starts at 60‘s picks for the must-watch shows to add to your list!

The Loudest Voice

Based on the rise and fall of the infamous Fox News founder, Roger Ailes, this mini-series gives a rare look into the inner workings of somewhere as unique as the Fox workplace. It follows Ailes as he falls from grace after a long line of sexual misconduct accusations were made against his name from the women who worked below him.

The intense drama stars a captivating Russell Crowe as Ailes, Naomi Watts as Gretchen Carlson and Sienna Miller as Beth Tilson. If you’re a fan of politics or simply enjoy watching someone pay for their actions then the seven part limited series shouldn’t be missed!

The Handmaid’s Tale

This powerful show is based on the best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood and was immediately a hit with audiences as soon as it aired. Set in a totalitarian society, this story follows the remaining fertile women who are forced to serve families in order to help them conceive.

While it will definitely leave you feeling uncomfortable at times, this show is hard to look away from and will have you watching episode after episode to see what happens next.

Bloom

There’s nothing better than good Australian-made TV, and Bloom is just that. It takes place a year after a devastating flood kills five people and a new plant is discovered with the power to restore youth.

You can’t go wrong when Jacki Weaver and Bryan Brown are involved and Bloom is proof that Australian TV truly is some of the most underrated out there. And to top it all off, the second season has just been released meaning you won’t have to wait around if you plan to binge watch the whole thing.

Killing Eve

This BAFTA Award-winning thriller follows an MI5 operative as she hunts down a brutal (but captivating) assassin. The show became an instant fan favourite when it hit screens thanks to the brilliant acting, writing and of course loads of action.

Rake

This classic Aussie courtroom ‘dramedy’ follows Cleaver Green, a criminal barrister with a chaotic life in every aspect. Not only is this show an easy watch, it also features some of Australia’s finest including Toni Colette, Sam Neill, Cate Blanchett and Hugo Weaving.
