The golden age – How travelling with a Gold Opal Card can save you time and money…

The Gold Opal card can save you money, time and gives you maximum convenience. When it’s getting more expensive to run a car and taking more time to get anywhere with traffic, using public transport more is the answer.

Making the switch is easy, but if you’re not sure whether it’s right for you, make sure you read this first!

Here’s why you should make the switch and start saving time and money in the ‘golden age’ of public transport travel.

Save money with the $2.50 Daily Travel Cap

The first thing to remember about the Gold Opal card is that it doesn’t cost more than travelling with a Pensioner Excursion Ticket. But if you only make a few short journeys and don’t reach the $2.50 cap, you’re already saving compared with the flat $2.50 cost of a Pensioner Excursion Ticket.

Save money with lower fares

Opal fares are the lowest single fares available. So if you’re only buying a single ticket it’s always cheaper to choose Opal. Also, you can only access off-peak train fares with an Opal card and save a further 30% on the already low Opal fares.

Save time day after day

Opal cards are reusable. You only need to get a Gold Opal card once. Then you can travel anywhere within the Opal network, on any mode of public transport. So you never need to look for the right change or queue up for a Pensioner Excursion Ticket ever again! Just think of all the time you’ll save.

Save time with every top up

Auto top up is optional, but it’s a real time saver. Whenever your Gold Opal card drops below $5, it tops up automatically from a linked debit or credit card – just like an e-tag. You only need to set it up once and you’re always ready to travel.

Get your Gold Senior/Pensioner Opal card today from www.opal.com.au or call 13 67 25 (13 OPAL) and start saving time and money by travelling with Opal.
