The views in Whistler, British Columbia, have always been mind-blowing, but now you can see even more – and from a seriously spectacular location.
The newest attraction at the Canadian ski resort of Whistler Blackcomb, about a 90-minute drive from Vancouver, is a suspension bridge located right beside the top station of Peak Chair.
It has a brilliant, James Bond-worthy name: Cloudraker Skybridge – very fitting when you learn that the bridge hangs 2,182 metres above the valley floor on Whistler Mountain, making it the highest bridge in North America. It’s sure to prove terrifying to some:
It’s not only the highest bridge in North America, it’s also very, um, mobile. Because Cloudraker is a suspension bridge, it means that if there’s wind it can sway – and if someone jumps it will wobble! If you’re halfway across the bridge on a busy day this could be a bit nerve-wracking, but don’t worry – it’s meant to move (plus it can actually bear more people than it can carry).

At the end of Cloudraker Skybridge you’ll find another new attraction, Raven’s Eye Cliff Walk.
The triangular platform juts out 12.5m, and sits 50m above the ski run below. From here you can enjoy glorious 360-degree views, taking in things like Rainbow Mountain, Alta Lake and Black Tusk, a 2,319m-high pinnacle of volcanic rock.

There are loads of other things to do if you plan to spend a bit of time in this neck of the woods – one of the highlights has to be soaring between mountains on the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola:
