Sonny and Cher’s chart-topping 1965 duet

Share:

This week in 1965, this celebrity pair released what was to become their highest-charting single. This song was #1 in the US and #3 here and became a favourite for couples the world over.

A signature song for the duo, the song defined the early hippie movement. It went Platinum and sold more than 1 million copies, and was praised by critics.

The lyrics are simple but it’s a timeless classic.

We loved Sonny and Cher as they were the ultimate couple, and seemed destined to be together forever. This song was one of our favourite duets and is still a karaoke classic today.

What are your memories of this song?
