The last supermoon of 2025 is set to shine in Gemini, and it won’t just be just lighting up the sky!

The last supermoon of 2025 is set to shine in Gemini, and it won’t just be just lighting up the sky! We can expect heightened thoughts, restless mental energy and a strong push to reflect on the year as the festive season ramps up.

The alignment of the moon in Gemini opposite Sagittarius creates an intense urge to think, communicate and process emotions, often all at once.

Gemini is known for curiosity, quick wit and flashes of insight, but there are also two sides to this sign.

Thoughts can shift quickly, and the mind may feel busier than usual. During this full moon, you might notice racing thoughts or a stronger intuitive pull as old patterns from the past few months rise for clearing. Some people could even change their minds completely!

Because December’s full moon is a supermoon, it will appear larger and brighter because it is near its closest point to Earth. It is the final in a trio of supermoons for 2025 and marks the culmination of the year’s lunar cycle.

October, November and December have acted as emotional build-up months and whatever hasn’t been processed may now surface so it can be released.

This is a high-growth period. Issues that have been simmering beneath the surface may finally lift, but in a way that feels more mentally manageable.

Gemini is an air sign, so people may mull things over rather than react emotionally. Holiday gatherings might still feel stressful, but not as triggering as they could have been because many situations have already been mentally worked through.

The moon places strong emphasis on communication, relationships and internal dialogue – and full moons bring things to a head, especially in relationships. If something hasn’t been talked about or there are unspoken tensions, this moon may bring those issues into the open.

It is a powerful time to pause, release old patterns and set intentions for the new year. Even a short moment of quiet reflection can settle the mind and ease stress.

Relationships and social life also take centre stage under this supermoon. It offers a chance to clear misunderstandings and strengthen bonds, whether in romance, friendship or family.

For singles, Gemini’s energy encourages local socialising and spontaneous connection. It is not necessarily about forming a solid long-term relationship, but it is a great time for meeting people.

You might find yourself chatting to someone interesting at a Christmas market, a fireworks display or a community event in your local area.

In the northern hemisphere, December’s full moon is known as the Cold Moon to mark the onset of winter.

In Australia, its timing is significant because it arrives just weeks before the Summer Solstice on December 21st, the longest day of the year.

The moon encourages self-reflection, while the Solstice highlights growth and forward movement. Together they create a rare moment to reflect on the year, release what no longer serves you and consider what you want to bring into the next one.

Astrologically, mutable signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces are likely to feel the energy most strongly, along with air signs Libra and Aquarius.

The Cold Supermoon reaches its peak on Friday December 5th at 10.14am AEDT, although best viewing will be in the evening.

What does December’s Cold Supermoon have in store for your star sign?

Aries (March 21 to April 19): It’s all about your thinking and the mental realms! Conversations, ideas and learning opportunities are buzzing. You might find yourself juggling multiple things at once. It’s also a great time to connect with siblings, friends and neighbours. You might even have some work functions with colleagues, especially in your local area. Mars will give you a bit of a push to act, so you might speak up or move some projects forward. Perhaps making decisions feels natural but do try not to let impatience scatter your focus. Take a breath, reflect, or write to turn mental energy into clarity. Even a short chat brings some new fresh ideas.

Taurus (April 20 to May 20): Your money, possessions and what you truly value are the name of the game now. It’s a fabulous time to consider your finances, resources and self-worth. Thoughts and conversations about budgeting, saving and shared resources may pop up, giving you a chance to plan smarter. Mars wants you to take action – it might be organising your stuff, reviewing budgets or thinking about long-term goals. Your mind is alive with practical ideas. Bouncing thoughts off trusted friends could reveal fresh ways to improve your financial situation. Making some small tweaks now can boost your sense of stability. So, take some time to check in with yourself.

Gemini (May 21 to June 20): With this full moon in your sign, your personality, presence and self-expression are put into the spotlight. You may feel a burst of curiosity, restlessness and a strong urge to share your ideas. People might respond more than usual, giving you some insight into how you’re perceived and how you want to show up. Mars hints to you about taking action, but it’s subtle. So, pay attention because there are new ways to express yourself, assert yourself and clarify your goals. Do some writing, chat with a friend, or sit and think. Now you can turn mental buzz into real insight. Explore, learn and project your individuality with intention into the outside world.

Cancer (June 21 to July 22): Now your inner world, intuition and moments of quiet reflection are spotlighted. You could feel drawn to slow down, meditate, journal or simply take a break from the usual hustle. It’s a perfect time to tune into subtle insights, dreams and emotional patterns that often go unnoticed. You might feel a gentle inclination towards doing inner work, like organising thoughts and finishing behind-the-scenes projects. Maybe you feel like quietly tackling personal goals. The focus is more on your inner life than outward action. By connecting inwardly, you’ll emerge with a clearer focus and more emotional balance.

Leo (July 23 to August 22): This full moon shines on your friendships, social groups and long-term goals. You may feel like reaching out to friends, sharing ideas or diving into group projects. Conversations could bring up fresh perspectives or open new opportunities. This moon is also about your hopes and dreams, so be clear in what you want in life now. Think about which connections truly support your growth and align with your desires. It’s a fabulous time for planning gatherings and collaborating with others. Your natural warmth and leadership can help bring ideas to life, but pace yourself to avoid over-committing. This time is about connection, creativity and forward thinking.

Virgo (August 23 to September 22): Career, reputation and long-term goals become more important. You might think about whether your current path still fits who you’re becoming. Recognition from others could arrive now, or you may be considering changes that suit you better. Conversations about work, leadership or public image can be especially productive. Just speak clearly and stay true to your vision. There’s also more activity on the home front, creating a subtle tug-of-war between career ambitions and domestic responsibilities. Focus on what matters most and delegate where you can to avoid feeling stretched. So, clarify your career direction and take some action steps toward your goals.

Libra (September 23 to October 22): Travel, learning, belief systems and personal growth are the order of the day! You might feel inspired to explore new ideas, plan an adventure or dive into studies that broaden your horizons. Teaching, publishing or sharing inspiring thoughts could also become more important. Additionally, you may find yourself questioning old opinions or craving more meaning in your day-to-day life. There’s also a gentle tension between big-picture ideas and everyday details, so communication might feel a bit tricky. Your curiosity is encouraged and don’t lose sight of what’s in front of you. Write, plan and share ideas but stay patient and grounded, with some inspiration and practicality.

Scorpio (October 23 to November 21): This full moon is all about shared resources, intimacy and transformation. You might be thinking about joint finances, investments or obligations. Do try to notice any intense emotional patterns in close relationships because it’s a powerful time to face hidden truths. Now you can gain some clarity and see what truly matters in partnerships and shared ventures. Meanwhile you might also feel some tension around money or security. Maybe it’s like being pulled between asserting independence and managing shared responsibilities? Things like joint loans, taxes or investments? Use this energy for honest assessment and thoughtful planning rather than impulsive moves.

Sagittarius (November 22 to December 21): Partnerships, close collaborations and one-on-one relationships feature now. You may notice relationship dynamics coming to the surface, so you can reflect on balance, fairness and mutual support. It’s a good moment to see what’s working well and where a little tweak could help. At the same time, you might also wish to assert yourself or pursue personal goals. This might create some tension, as you juggle your own needs with relationship demands. The energy isn’t intense because it’s more about awareness and conscious action than drama. Focus on communication, compromise and recognising relationship patterns.

Capricorn (December 22nd to January 19): Your daily routines, work, health and practical matters are coming into focus. Managing your time, energy and well-being become more important. You will probably spot some areas where small adjustments could make life run smoother. It’s a great time to tidy up, set routines and create systems that support your long-term goals. However, there may also be some minor tension around private matters, hidden responsibilities or personal boundaries. You might feel like taking action, even if it’s behind the scenes. Pay attention to detail, plan and review your responsibilities. This will bring more clarity and control to keep your daily life running smoothly.

Aquarius (January 20th to February 18): Now your creativity, romance, hobbies and self-expression are highlighted. You could feel a burst of inspiration or a desire to explore fun, playful or artistic pursuits. It’s also a fabulous time to dive into passions, reconnect with your inner child and enjoy some fun activities. However, there could also be a dash of stress around friendships, group projects or social obligations. You might feel pulled in different direction between your creative urges and the needs of others. It’s not intense but it is there – a hint to find more balance in your life. However, mostly this time is all about self-expression, playfulness and finding some excitement.

Pisces (February 19 to March 20): It’s all about your home zone, family and emotional foundations. Now feelings or situations at home arise where you may need to step back and take some time to consider. Thinking about what truly makes you feel secure and nurtured, is needed now. It is, however, a great time to reconnect with loved ones, tidy your space and revisit long-term plans around family or living arrangements. Tension could also surface between career ambitions and home life. You might also feel pulled between professional goals and family needs, but the energy isn’t too hard to handle. Basically, it’s time for grounding, emotional clarity and nurturing your private world.
