Why ‘time is running out’ for Prince Harry to return to the royal fold

Prince Harry may be running out of time to reconcile with the Royal Family and rejoin their ranks, as suggested by insights from a royal expert.

Since stepping back from his royal duties in 2020 with Meghan Markle, Harry has remained estranged from his family across the pond, seeking a life away from the intense media scrutiny in the UK.

Although reports indicate that Harry is eager to reintegrate into royal life with his family, Richard Eden, Diary Editor of the Daily Mail and a royal expert, advises that he should act promptly if he wishes to reclaim his position within The Firm.

“Charles thought that when Harry had a family, they would be carrying out engagements and sharing those duties with William so, I think time is running out,” he told Mail+’s weekly talk show.

“If Harry wants to come back at any stage, he needs to do it while his father is still King.”

Eden suggested that should Harry delay his return, he may miss the opportunity, especially if he waits until his brother Prince William is King.

“I really think that when Prince William is King, I can’t see him letting Harry come back and have a role again,” he said.

“They are irrelevant now, they are just not wanted as part of the monarchy.

“Maybe there could be some radical change but it’s hard to see.”

In a recent interview with The Mirror, royal author Tom Quinn explained that Harry has a growing desire to spend more time in the UK but faces a roadblock in his return home.

“Prince Harry wants to spend more time in the UK, but he knows he is going to have to do it alone,” Quinn told the publication.

“Meghan has publicly stated that she has no intention of returning to England. This puts Harry in a really difficult position if any kind of positive relationship is to be re-established with his family.

“After the excitement of moving to the US, the honeymoon period is now over and Harry is beginning to find time hangs heavy for him – he is increasingly nostalgic for much of his old life back in the UK. For all his problems with his family he always loved his military and school friends and he misses them.”
