An urgent recall of an over-the-counter medical supplement has been issued after a number of consumers reported allergic reactions.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) issued the recall for Kynd Stress Relief tablets on Friday, April, 22, after reports of “unexpected” negative reactions.

“iNova Pharmaceuticals, in consultation with the TGA, has initiated a recall of one batch of Kynd Stress Relief tablets following the reports of unexpected allergic reactions,” TGA’s recall alert read.

TGA listed the affected batch number as 106585, with an expiry date of 08/2023, and encouraged those who had purchased the compromised batch to “immediately stop using the product and return it to the place of purchase for a refund”.

As reported by TGA, some users of the medication in question have reported symptoms of rash, a tingling or burning sensation on the skin, general redness and itching and swelling of the throat, tongue, eyelids and/or face.

Kynd Stress Relief tablets are commonly used to manage symptoms of mild anxiety. TGA urged those experiencing symptoms synonymous with an allergic reaction to seek immediate medical advice and assured consumers an investigation into the cause of the “unexpected” reactions remained ongoing.
