Princess Mary of Denmark has left fans breathless after stunning portraits of her posing with husband Prince Frederik were posted to the Danish palace’s Instagram yesterday, in celebration of her 50th birthday this Saturday, February 5, 2022.

The princess donned a glistening blue, floor-length gown, featuring incredibly detailed embellishments tailored to perfection. The show-stopping gown pulled in elegantly at the waist attached with a star-shaped brooch detailed with the sign-of-the-cross.

The princess’s stunning regalia was paired with a gorgeously-crafted petal-like crown and hairstyle to compliment, as well as classic jewel drop earrings and gracefully understated makeup. To top the outfit off, the couple wore matching bright-blue sashes, each attached with various royal brooches and medallions.

The Instagram post read, “Verified On the occasion of Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess’ 50th birthday on Saturday, new official gala portraits of the Crown Prince Couple have been taken. During the week, the birthday is marked with a number of events – from exhibition openings at both Koldinghus and Frederiksborg Castle to the first sod to the animal facility “Mary’s Australian Garden” in the Copenhagen Zoo and the opening of the knowledge center “Crown Princess Mary Center” at the University of Copenhagen and TV 2’s birthday show “Mary 50 – we celebrate Denmark’s Crown Princess” in Vilhelm Lauritzen Terminalen, Copenhagen Airport, on Sunday”.

The Australian-born Princess looked ever the picturesque example of royal elegance, posing loyally next to husband Frederik, Crown Prince Of Denmark and current heir to the Danish throne. Should the prince succeed, the couple would become King and Queen consort of Denmark.

The couple of over 20 years met at a pub in Sydney during the 2000 Summer Olympics and became engaged in 2003 before officially marrying in 2004. The couple have since born four children, two boys and two girls. Their relationship has long been portrayed by the media as a ‘fairytale’ love-story, reminiscent of old-as-time romantic tales where the prince falls in love with the commoner.

Tragically, Princess Mary’s mother passed away as a result of a heart condition in November, 1997, when the princess was 25 years old and before she met now husband, Prince Frederik.

The royal spoke to European Magazine of her late mother’s advice to her that “you can only be yourself”, describing its importance to her in her darkest moments.

“She was absolutely right about that. I have reminded myself of those words when I have occasionally [felt like I was going to] lose myself,’ she said. ‘My life has offered great changes, joys and sorrows.

‘There are several landmark events: The grief of losing my mother. The joy of then becoming a mother. My time at university. To meet Frederik. To get married to the Crown Prince and become the Crown Princess for Denmark and the Danish people that I love so much. And maybe to be 50 – who knows?”, she told the magazine.

The princess remains a vivid example of royal duty and grace and fans look forward to sharing many future milestones with the lovely Mary of Denmark.
