The $100 billion problem facing Australian farmers

Jun 20, 2013

This is a current news release from the US on farmer subsidies passing a half-trillion dollar farm support bill. How on earth are our farmers supposed to compete on what is referred to as free trade level playing field with subsidies like this going to US farmers?

This practice is common overseas, with countries borrowing money, subsidising agriculture and industry, and then releasing goods on the export market to kill off opposition involvement.  Australian companies like Ford, Rosella, Cowra Cannery with Electrolux face survival challenges in the next few months, just some of the casualties of the current Australian government policy.

Aren’t our politicians supposed to fend for agricultural and rural interests?… I ask you, and them… Exactly what are you doing about this huge problem facing Australian trade?
