A teenager has been arrested after a 10-year-old girl was found dead in the NSW town of Gunnedah on Wednesday morning.
New South Wales Police confirmed the tragic news in a statement on Wednesday afternoon, confirming that a 14-year-old girl had been arrested and taken into custody.
“Officers arrested a 14-year-old girl, who is known to the younger girl, nearby and she was taken to Gunnedah Police Station,” a force spokesperson said in a statement.
Emergency services were called to a home in the town, approximately 430 kilometres from Sydney, at around 7.15am today, following reports a girl had suffered serious lacerations.
First responders attempted to revive the young girl, however she sadly died at the scene. A crime scene was established at the property and investigations are ongoing.
