‘Diana wouldn’t have wanted this for me’: Thomas Markle’s low blow

Thomas Markle has sensationally claimed his daughter Meghan would be nothing without him and has dragged Princess Diana’s name into his ongoing fight with the royal family.

Markle, who was interviewed at his Mexico home about 45 minutes south of the US border, also saw fit to mention Prince Harry’s later mother, Diana, and claimed she’d be horrified if she could see how the royal family was treating him.

Comparing Meghan to Diana, Markle said: “They [the Royal Family] have Meghan treating her father in a way that Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, would have loathed. That’s not what Diana stood for.

“Princess Diana is credited with changing the Royal Family, but she wasn’t perfect. She was still very much one of them. I think Meghan’s the one who’ll bring them into the 21st Century, if they’ll let her.”

He also showed little respect for his new son-in-law, saying he doesn’t care if Harry never speaks to him again.

While the former lighting technician lamented the fact that he may never get to meet his grandchildren and said he was desperate for an address to send Meghan a birthday card, in the next breath he cruelly insisted his daughter would be nothing without him and that he “made her” into the woman she is today.

“I tell you, I’ve just about reached my limit with Meghan and the royal family,” he said. “They want me to be silent, they want me to just go away. But I won’t be silenced.

“I refuse to stay quiet. What riles me is Meghan’s sense of superiority. She’d be nothing without me. I made her the Duchess she is today. Everything that Meghan is, I made her.”

Of course it’s not the first time Markle has spoken to the press about his strained relationship with his daughter. Just weeks ago he told The Sun on Sunday that he can tell by looking at photos of her that Meghan is “terrified” of her new life. He also drew the ire of royal fans when in June he slammed the Queen for meeting President Trump before him, saying: “If the Queen is willing to meet our arrogant, ignorant, and insensitive president she has no excuse not to meet me. I’m nowhere near as bad.”

Aside from issuing a public statement asking the press to give him privacy after he suffered a heart attack just days before his daughter’s wedding, the Palace and the Duchess have remained silent on Markle’s stream of bad-mouthing interviews.

How do you feel about this? Is it wrong for Markle to drag Diana’s name into this?
