Prince William has shared a rare thank you tweet in response to the public outpouring of tributes for his 40th birthday on Tuesday, June 21.

Taking to the Duke and Duchess’s official Twitter page, the Duke of Cambridge posted a simple message of thanks, signing off with his first initial.

The rare personal tweet received an overwhelming response from royal fans as thousands of users commented their messages of praise and love for the popular Prince.

The post has already racked up over 16,000 likes and close to 2000comments.

The Royal Family Instagram, run on behalf of Her Majesty, and The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall also posted touching tributes to the Prince as they shared a number of nostalgic photos.

The Queen shared a number of touching throwback photos of herself and the Prince in his younger years, shedding light on their adorably close relationship.

Prince Charles also shared a number of wonderful throwback photos of himself alongside the Prince, including a heartwarming photo of a younger Prince Charles cradling his newborn son.

On Sunday, June 19, The Duchess of Cambridge took to Twitter to post an adorable Father’s Day photo of Prince William together with the royal couple’s three young children, Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4.

The Prince has become quite the icon in recent years due to his approachable, charismatic and generous personality, qualities he continues to show in everyday life and through his community support and participation.
