Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have welcomed their second child, a baby girl. They named the baby after Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth II and his late mother Princess Diana.

Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on Friday morning in Santa Barbara, California, according to a statement. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz (3.49 kilograms).  The couple’s press secretary said both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home.

“On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili,” Harry and Meghan said in a separate statement posted on their Archewell website.

“She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.

“Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

Lilibet was a nickname given to the Queen when she was a child because she couldn’t say ‘Elizabeth’ properly. The late Prince Philip also used to call her this.

Lilibet is the Queen’s 11th great grandchild. A statement from the royal family said the Queen, Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge are delighted by the news.

“Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of Lilibet Diana!
The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted with the news,” the statement read, alongside a photo of Harry and Meghan from their wedding day. “Lilibet is Her Majesty’s 11th great-grandchild.”

This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

The announcement comes just two months after Beatrice’s cousin Zara Tindall welcomed another addition to her little family, Lucas Philip Tindall. Lucas’ middle name is a tribute to his late great-grandfather Prince Philip, who recently passed away after a lengthy stay in hospital.
