Ladies, it’s time to start practising your British accents because Netflix’s royal drama The Crown is looking for an actress to play university-aged Kate Middleton on the sixth and final season of the hit series.

Kate’s role, however, is speculated to be minor, mainly depicting the beginning of her romance with Prince William during their time together at the University of St Andrews, where they first met.

A source told The Sun that “having the Duchess of Cambridge is an easy win for The Crown, as it will get more people watching. But since she’s not a crucial part of the storyline, Kate’s presence is a bonus. They’ll only cast her if they can find the right candidate.”

News about Kate’s possible appearance in the royal drama series comes after a Netflix casting call was published on Twitter last month looking for actors to play Prince William and Prince Harry in their teens and early 20s.

The Crown’s fifth season was initially intended to be the show’s final season, but creators changed their minds, instead promising to continue the historical drama for one more season.

While casting calls for fresh new faces are underway, The Crown‘s fifth season will drop later this year in November and will cover the dramatic breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage.

It is also rumoured that the storyline will focus in part on 1992, which the Queen declared to be an “annus horribilis.” As it was the year when three of her four children were separated from their spouses and the year of the devastating Windsor Castle fire.

It is also likely that season five will carry through to 1995 when Princess Diana gave her bombshell tell-all interview to the BBC’s Panorama. It was in this sit-down interview where Diana famously said “there were three of us in this marriage,” hinting at Charles’ affair with Camilla.

Previously announced cast members for the final two seasons of The Crown, include Imelda Staunton as the Queen, Leslie Manville as Princess Margaret, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Phillip, and Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker-Bowles.
