Camilla has praised Prince Harry and his new wife Meghan’s royal wedding day, but admitted the whole family were wondering “whatever would happen next” in the days beforehand.

Former US actress Meghan’s father dramatically dropped out of the wedding just days before, as he was forced to undergo heart surgery. That followed a series of bombshell interviews and notes from her siblings, slamming the pair’s relationship and even then begging for an invite.

While the world waited with bated breath for the big day, hoping it would go without a hitch, it seems the royal family were doing the same too.

Now, the Duchess of Cornwall has broken her silence, and given a rare insight into how they were all feeling in the run-up to the nuptials. Speaking to reporters and production staff on a visit to 5 News in London, Camilla revealed her relief that everything went “right”.

According to the Mail Online, she told staff: “It was such a lovely day. Just everything went right. We all wondered whatever would happen next and then everything went right. The only thing is that we are all losing our voices now.”

Describing the whole day as “perfect” and the weather as “beautiful”, she reportedly added: “It’s nice to have something that is uplifting rather than depressing,” before joking: “The only thing is that we are all losing our voices now!”

Camilla stunned in her own white dress on the visit, opting for a high-necked knee-length gown with a mini slit down the front. She coupled the elegant look with black and white heels, and added some simple diamond jewellery to the ensemble.

She was at the headquarters of Independent Television News (ITN) to mark the 21st anniversary of its 5 News programme, where she was given a tour of the control room and gallery, as well as sitting in on the morning’s editorial conference.

In there, she was reportedly quizzed about a past interview she gave on domestic violence to royal correspondent Simon Vigar.

“It is a subject everyone knew about but rarely talks about,” she reportedly said, according to several news outlets. “I talk to a lot of women and some of the charities involved and it just sparked something in me.

“I thought it was high time that we started talking about it. For some of the women involved it is very, very harrowing. It is a subject that has been under wraps for too long.”

It comes after Harry and Meghan tied the knot in front of billions of TV viewers on Saturday. Meghan was supported by her mum Doria as her father watched from the US, as he recovers from his surgery.
