Australia Post has released two new Queen Elizabeth inspired postage stamps in celebration of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70 year reign.

Australia Post Group Philatelic Manager, Michael Zsolt, expressed the company’s “delight” in being able to honour such an incredible moment in history.

“Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the most featured person on Australian stamps, and we were the first postal authority in the Commonwealth to produce a stamp for the Queen’s Birthday each year,” Zsolt said.

“We’re delighted to be celebrating another of Her Majesty’s important milestones with these new stamps, which I am sure will be a welcome sight on any letter and an exciting addition to collections across the world.”

The exclusive new stamps “depict portraits of the Queen from 1952 and 2019 to emphasise the longevity of her reign, with the designs also emphasising the colour platinum”.

One of the stamps portrays a young Queen Elizabeth, taken in 1952 by the Crown’s first official royal photographer, Dorothy Wilding. Other stamps feature a more recent depiction of the Queen, featuring an image of Her Majesty attending an event to mark the centenary of British Airways in 2019.

The 1952-inspired stamp is currently on sale for $1.10 per stamp, whilst the 2019 rendition sits at $3.50.

Australia post has long celebrated the Queen’s royal milestones, having released a number of special post stamp editions in celebration of Her Majesty’s golden and diamond jubilee years.

The new stamps were designed by Sonia Young of the Australia Post Design Studio and are currently available for purchase at participating Post Offices.
