Prince Charles delighted fans on Wednesday by sharing a sweet family throwback photo. In the black-and-white pic, which was shared to the Clarence House Instagram page, a young Charles can be seen enjoying a summer’s day in Clarence House garden with his parents Queen Elizabeth II and the late Prince Philip, and younger sister Princess Anne.

“Taken 70 years ago this month, this photo shows the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles and Princess Anne enjoying a warm summer day in the Clarence House garden,” Clarence House captioned the post.

The Queen looked like a vision of perfection in a flowy summer dress, while the Duke of Edinburgh looked dapper in a suit. Charles, who was dressed in a cute shirt and pants combo, can be seen leaning on his left hand as he looks at his parents, while baby Anne can be seen trying to touch the flowers. The young prince would’ve been two and a half years at the time while Princess Anne, who turns 71 on Sunday, August 15, would’ve just turned one.

Fans of the royal family were quick to comment on the beautiful pic, with one writing: “So much love for this photo!!”

Another added: “What a beautiful picture.” While a third wrote: “The Queen is gorgeous.”

Others commented on missing the late Prince Philip, with one writing: “Missing the Duke of Edinburgh.”

Prince Philip sadly passed away at the age of 99 in April. He was just two months shy of his 100th birthday. The Duke of Edinburgh had battled a range of health issues in recent years and was released from hospital only three weeks before his death, having contracted an infection and having had surgery for a heart condition that required a month’s hospitalisation.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” the British royal family said in a statement at the time.

“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”
