Princess Eugenie has taken to Instagram to share a new photo of her son August, as she celebrated her first ever Mother’s Day on Sunday.

The sweet photo shows five-week-old August wearing fluffy rabbit slippers as he relaxes on a blanket amongst the daffodils. Eugenie gushed over her love of being a mother and also wished her own mum a happy Mother’s Day with a throwback photo of the Duchess of York holding her as a baby in 1990.

“I’m so excited to be August’s mum and as you can see I’m enjoying my first Mother’s Day,” she wrote. “I’m also celebrating my beautiful Mumma with this picture of us from March 1990. You’ve taught me so much.”

The post was flooded with comments wishing the young mum a happy first Mother’s Day, and even more commenting on baby August and his adorable rabbit slippers.

“Happy First Mother’s Day to you,” one fan commented. “Your son is just gorgeous xxx.”

Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed their baby boy into the world on February 9, naming him August Philip Hawke Brooksbank. The name pays tribute to Eugenie’s 99-year-old grandfather Prince Philip and Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert, whose full name was Franz Albert August Karl Emanuel.

After the birth, the palace released a statement saying the Queen, Prince Philip, Eugenie’s parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and Jack’s parents were “delighted” by the happy news.

“This is Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s first child, The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York’s first grandchild, and the ninth great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh,” the statement read.

Ten days after the birth, Princess Eugenie shared the first full photo of August, saying she and Jack were “full of love” for their new son.

“Thank you for so many wonderful messages,” the caption read. “Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can’t express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.⁣”

The new parents, who married in October 2018, are currently residing at Frogmore Cottage, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s former home on the Queen’s Windsor estate.

Princess Eugenie first announced her pregnancy news on her personal Instagram account last year, posting a picture of small bear booties with the caption, “Jack and I are so excited for early 2021.”
