Princess Catherine has delighted royal watchers with a surprise appearance, joining Prince William in a video on social media to praise team Great Britain for their efforts at the Paris Olympics.
Catherine has remained largely absent from the public eye following a two-week hospital stay in January where she underwent major abdominal surgery. It was later revealed, in an emotional video message, that she had been diagnosed with cancer and would be taking time away as she undergoes treatment.
Now in a video message, Catherine took the time to congratulate her home team for their “immense dedication, heart and passion” during this year’s Olympics.
“From all of us watching at home, congratulations Team GB,” she said in the video.
Standing beside her, William also praised Great Britain’s athletes for “all you’ve achieved” and highlighted that they have been “an inspiration to us all”.
“Well done @teamgb, what an incredible journey!” the pair captioned the video.
“Every athlete showed immense dedication, heart and passion. You made us all so proud!
“Here’s to celebrating every triumph at @paris2024 and looking forward to more from @paralympicsgb_official later in the summer.”

Given Princess Catherine’s public appearances have been few and far between, royal fans were overjoyed to catch a glimpse of the beloved royal once again.
“It’s great to see Catherine and William again,” one wrote.
“You both look amazing!!!!! Love the scruff W!!! Catherine you look stunning!!”
“Great to see Catherine and William again our future king and queen,” commented another.
“Princess Catherine looks beautiful!”
Catherine’s recent return to the public eye follows her appearance at this year’s Wimbledon tournament where she received a standing ovation.
Taking to social media, Catherine revealed that it was “great to be back” at the prestigious tennis tournament.
“There’s nothing quite like The Championships,” she wrote alongside photos from the event.
She was met with similar fanfare when she attended this year’s Trooping the Colour where she rode in a covered carriage with her three children to take part in the celebrations on Saturday, June 15.
Wearing a pale outfit decorated with a white and navy ribbon by fashion designer Jenny Packham and a broad-brimmed matching hat by milliner Philip Treacy, Catherine watched the ceremony from a window overlooking the parade ground.
She pointed out aspects of the event to her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis while Charles saluted passing troops.
The King and Queen, as well as William, Catherine and other members of the Royal Family later returned to Buckingham Palace to watch a military fly-past from the balcony where Catherine smiled broadly and waved to an adoring crowd.
