Pregnant + Aging – do they go together?

The media industry is awash with criticism of a campaign in the UK that is frankly, misusing older people in advertising and treating women delaying pregnancy inappropriately in my opinion.

A UK campaign aimed at raising fertility has been slammed all over the social media universe as “misogynistic”, “naive” and “patronising” for featuring a wrinkled and grey-haired pregnant woman.

The ‘Get Britain Fertile’ marketing campaign by First Response, a pregnancy and ovulation test company has clearly been designed to shock women into thinking about starting their families earlier.

But is it right?  Should we really be putting pictured of much older women on a screen as pregnant trying to scare younger women to have babies?

The poster based advertisement features a young UK television host, Kate Garraway transformed into an elderly, wrinkled woman whose mature age is juxtaposed with a protruding pregnant belly.

Is this insensitive to those facing fertility issues and downright misuse of aging as a reference?   What do you think of the ad?
