Overcoming adversity to entertain and put a smile on your face

For someone that dedicated her life to dancing, it was the unthinkable.  A car accident left her paralysed from the bellybutton down.

Chelsie Hill told the US version of The Today Show, “When it first happened, I was like, ‘OK, how am I going to get dressed? How am I going to do this?'” She added, “But I always knew I would dance again.”

Against the odds, Chelsie started a dance group for women in wheelchairs called The Rollettes. The women perform all across the US to raise fund for spinal cord research. Chelsie says that being in the wheelchair with her Rollettes is the new ‘normal’ for her saying, “I have built my whole life these last seven years basically normalising my situation”. She added,”Of course I’m still in touch with friends from before the accident, but my favourite part about this team is knowing that I have a group of girls who are my best friends, my sisters. Being able to travel with them and not feeling different.”

The team used to be known as Walk and Roll and continues to empower women no matter if they are in wheelchairs or not.

What do you think of this amazing group?
