The complicated relationship between Fleetwood Mac‘s Stevie Nicks and Linsey Buckingham is set to hit our screens as an upcoming mini-series inspired by the band’s whirlwind fame is making its way to Amazon Prime Video.
The new series, titled Daisy Jones & The Six, is a TV adaptation of the 2019 novel of the same name.
Written by author Taylor Jenkins Reid, the 12-episode limited series centres around the rise and implosion of a 1970’s rock band, led by free-spirited lead singer, Daisy.
The series will take audiences through a documentary-style tale of the rock band, as they navigate fame, love, and drugs, but will have a special focus on Daisy and her tumultuous relationship with frontman Billy Dunne.
While the storyline is entirely fictional, the show is likely to include portrayals of real-life rockstars like Iggy Pop, Jimmy Page, and “groupie” Sable Starr.
Taking on the lead role of Daisy is Elvis Presley’s very own granddaughter, 33-year-old Riley Keough, who also contributes to the show’s soundtrack.
Keough will share the screen with British actor, Sam Claflin, who plays Billy, along with a handful of other established actors and musicians.
Filming for the series has already wrapped up earlier this year in May, however, no trailer or announcements on the series will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video has been made.
The forthcoming series has been brought to life by none other than Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon, who first announced the on-screen adaptation of the book back in 2018.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Witherspoon said, “As soon as I started reading Daisy Jones & The Six, I immediately fell head over heels in love with it, and I’m thrilled to be bringing it to the screen with Amazon and Jen Salke, whose passionate pursuit of the material spoke volumes.”
She then added that she feels “confident” that “Daisy and her band’s journey toward finding their voice will leave just as permanent a mark with viewers around the world” as it did with her.
This wouldn’t be the first novel Witherspoon and her production company have acquired to turn into an on-screen adaptation.
Earlier this year it was announced that the actress was teaming up with American country singer Dolly Parton to turn her best-selling novel Run, Rose, Run into a movie adaptation where Parton is set to make her major movie acting debut.
Witherspoon and her team were also the people behind the movie adaptation of the 2018 coming-of-age murder mystery novel Where the Crawdads Sing.
