Donald Trump Jr slammed for tweet about London attack

Share:
The president's son tweeted his distaste this morning.

Donald Trump Jr. is copping backlash online after posting a tweet about the London terror attack to his 1.47 million followers.

This morning, five people were killed and 40 injured after a man ploughed through pedestrians on London’s Westminster Bridge before driving into the gates surrounded Parliament House and stabbing a police officer.

Social media was quickly flooded with images from the scene while world leaders sent their condolences to British Prime Minister Theresa May.

Tumpr Jr’s first and only reference to the attack was a swipe at London mayor Sadiq Khan who is the city’s first Muslim mayor.

“You have to be kidding me?!: Terror attacks are part of living in big city, says London Mayor Sadiq Khan,” he wrote about an article by The Independent published in September last year.

Khan was quoted in the article talking about the threat of terrorist attacks in the British capital.

Critics were quick to respond with many calling his comments distasteful.

One man said Trump Jr had taken the comment out of context by not reading past the first line in the article.

“You dug this up specifically to garner twitter traffic when people are dying/ injured. How does this help? SAD [(c)Your Dad]” one woman wrote. “Oh yes, and THANKS for your thoughts and condolences. I’m sure you’ll be sending them RIGHT along.”

Do you think Trump Jr’s comments were distasteful? Or are okay?
