From nine nights along Australia’s southern coast to a Pacific crossing, Cunard’s new 2029 voyages offer a taste of world cruising without months away.
A world cruise is a tempting retirement holiday, but finding months to spend at sea is another matter. Cunard’s newly announced 2029 sailings offer Australians a shorter way aboard, with Queen Elizabeth voyages ranging from nine nights along our southern coast to a 28-night Pacific crossing.
The ship’s World Voyage includes sections that passengers can join or leave in Sydney and Fremantle, opening up options for those who want a longer ocean holiday without committing to the entire journey.
Travel at 60 has opened pre-registration for the new Cunard voyages. Readers who register will be contacted by a cruise specialist before bookings open, giving them time to discuss their preferred sailing and cabin.
Part of Cunard’s appeal is the sense of occasion. Afternoon tea comes with scones and conversation, while Gala Evenings give passengers a reason to pack something special for dinner and dancing. In Queen Elizabeth’s Queens Room, live musicians and a ballroom dance floor keep a much-loved tradition of ocean travel alive.
There’s plenty to fill the quieter hours, too. You can browse the ship’s two-deck library, take a dance class or settle in for a guest speaker’s talk through the Cunard Insights programme. On a longer voyage, there’s time to get through that book you’ve been meaning to read, or linger over tea with someone you’ve just met.
The shortest Australian option is nine nights from Fremantle to Sydney, departing March 16, 2029, with fares from $3,399 per person twin share and up to US$180 onboard credit per stateroom.
For travellers keen to combine an Asian holiday with a voyage home, the options include:
Those with more time could board in Sydney on March 25 for the 28-night voyage to Los Angeles, priced from $9,999, with up to US$490 onboard credit per stateroom.
The choice of direction is useful when planning the rest of a holiday. You could spend time in Asia before sailing home, or make the ocean crossing to California the beginning of an American adventure.
Cunard World Club members get first access to World Voyage sectors to and from Australia at 9am AEDT on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Other new voyages open to members at 1am AEDT on Wednesday, November 4, followed by general sale at 1am AEDT on Thursday, November 5.
Members can also save 10 per cent on eligible new voyages booked between November 3 and December 30, 2026.
Elsewhere in the October 2028–May 2029 programme, Queen Mary 2 will make its 500th Transatlantic Crossing in May 2029, while Queen Anne’s South America Discovery voyage includes Rio de Janeiro during Carnival.
Readers can explore Travel at 60’s Cunard 2028–29 voyage details or pre-register to speak with a cruise specialist before bookings open.
