Tom Hanks has sent his heartfelt thanks to Aussies for their support and care while in the Land Down Under after the actor and his wife Rita Wilson contracted Covid-19 during filming for a new movie.
The Hollywood couple were forced to quarantine in Australia recently after receiving positive results for coronavirus, spending time in a Gold Coast hospital and self-isolating in their hotel until they were well enough to return home.
Now, weeks later the pair have touched down in the US and promptly gone into self-isolation like the rest of the country’s residents to prevent further spread of the virus. Thankfully though, Hanks and Wilson are feeling much better, with the actor since taking to social media to update his fans. And he had a lot to say about the helpful Aussies who cared and supported him and his wife when they were unwell.
“Hey, folks … We’re home now and, like the rest of America, we carry on with sheltering in place and social distancing,” he wrote on Twitter. “Many, many thanks to everyone to Australia who looked after us.
“Their care and guidance made possible our return to the USA. And many thanks to all of you who reached out with well wishes. Rita and I so appreciate it. Hanx.”
Fans were quick to comment, with many celebrating the recovery of the Hollywood couple.
“SO happy to hear that you’re better and home safe,” @SaibaHafeez14 wrote on the Twitter post. “The world can’t afford to lose people as wonderful as you. May you continue to recover and be safe.” While @TyMurphy19 added: “Thrilled to hear that you and Rita and okay!”
Hanks recent message comes days after Wilson took to social media with her own post, showing just how bored she has been in isolation. While Wilson is no stranger to a microphone, last week she wowed fans with a performance of a different kind.
The actress admitted she’s going a little “stir crazy” while in quarantine after testing positive to coronavirus alongside husband Tom Hanks, and her latest post on social media can attest to that. Wilson shared a video of her performing an impromptu rap with her 963K Instagram followers.

The Hollywood couple were diagnosed with coronavirus earlier this month while in Australia and have since been forced to self-isolate. But it seems they are feeling much better, albeit a bit bored.
“Quarantine stir crazy,” she wrote on the post. “See it to believe it.”
In the video, the 63-year-old can be seen sitting on the couch reading a book, before suddenly bursting out in a rap. And she doesn’t miss a beat either — rapping for a full four-minutes.
