American actor, Tom Hanks, 65, has raised serious concerns about the state of his health after he appeared to struggle with severe hand trembles during a recent speech on the Gold Coast.

The special speech saw Hanks make a touching tribute to the people of the Gold Coast and film director Baz Luhrmann while promoting the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic where he plays Colonel Tom Parker – set to hit cinemas next week, June 23, 2022.

According to the Daily Mail, Luhrmann had “arranged for an Australian premiere to be held” on the Gold Coast where filming for the Elvis biopic had taken place.

A number of the film’s actors and actresses attended the exclusive premiere, including American heartthrob, Austin Butler, who plays the role of Elvis in the new film.

In a video released of the speech, an ultra-slim looking Hanks can be seen struggling to contain his shaking hand as he entertains an eager audience with quite the charismatic speech.

“There is no better place in the world to make a motion picture than right here on the Gold Coast”, Hanks begins, left hand in his pocket.

“I speak from experience. I’ve shot films in Morocco, in Los Angeles, in New York city, in Seattle, in Berlin…none of them have have what the Gold Coast has and what is that?

“In two words, none of those other cities have Dan Murphy’s” he joked, sparking loud cheers and laughs from the audience.

“What a man, what man”, Hanks says as he switches the microphone from his left hand to his right in an effort to control the shaking.

The actor frequently used the other hand to steady the microphone as he continued with his speech, a subtle mannerism that went unnoticed by many.

The Forrest Gump actor went on to pay tribute to Luhrmann as he told the audience, “You have a wonderful proactive golden son in Baz Luhrmann who loves Australia more than kangaroos, more than Dan Murphy”.

As the footage circulated online and theories as to the cause of Hanks’ hand trembling swirled, one fan claimed the star’s shaking hand could be due to his diabetes.

“He’s diabetic. This happens to my mom when she gets low blood sugar,” the fan claimed.

In 2013, Hanks revealed he had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes during an interview on Late Show, revealing his doctor’s words upon delivering the diagnosis.

“I went to the doctor, and he said, you know those high blood sugar numbers you’ve been dealing with since you were 36? Well, you’ve graduated! You’ve got type 2 diabetes, young man,” Hanks told Late Show host, David Letterman.

In a seperate interview with the Radio Times, Hanks revealed his doctor’s words of advice for getting rid of the disease.

“My doctor says if I can hit a target weight, I will not have type 2 diabetes anymore,” he said.
