Sharon Stone’s sexy throwback to iconic onscreen romance

Sharon Stone, 64, has shared a sexy throwback to her iconic onscreen romance with co-star Michael Douglas, 77, in the 1992 hit film Basic Instinct, marking 30 years since the film’s release.

Stone shared the nostalgic three image post to Instagram on Saturday, March 19, featuring intimate close-ups of her intense onscreen relationship with Michael Douglas, leaving fans reminiscing about the controversial 1992 sexual thriller.

In her post, Stone thanked Douglas and production company Studio Canal in a touching tribute to the successful film.

“This weekend is Basic Instinct’s 30th Anniversary. Thank you to @michaelkirkdouglas #PaulVerhoeven @studiocanal for all the great memories,” Stone wrote.

Loyal fans were quick to comment as they expressed their love for the film and joined Stone in celebrating three decades since the film graced the silver screen.

“One of my most favourite movies of all time!!!! There was Basic Instinct before 50 Shades of Grey,” wrote one fan.

“This is the best erotic thriller in cinema history. You should be proud of making this film,” another commented.

One fan even described the film’s long-lasting effect on him, revealing they were still uneasy about elevators.

“An absolute classic. Genuinely creepy at times. Still makes me uneasy about getting into lifts,” they admitted.

Today, March 21, Stone took to Instagram once again to share a fan repost in celebration of the film’s anniversary. The video contained a mash-up of scenes from the film with the caption, “Happy birthday to one of my favourite movies, one that changed the world. The movie that introduced me to the one and only whom I love forever: @sharonstone.”

Over the weekend, Stone also shared an adorable photo of her and a friend, who sported Basic Instinct merchandise of a cartoon version of the infamous leg crossing scene from the film.

In the 1992 successful thriller, Stone played the character of Catherine Tramell, a young crime novelist who had written an eerily similar novel to a recent violent murder committed in San Francisco. Douglas plays Nick Curran, the homicide detective involved in uncovering the murder. Throughout the film, the pair develop an intensely unhealthy relationship as a series of thrilling twists and turns leads to the ultimate uncovering of the murder.

The film saw Stone receive a number of outstanding awards for her performance, including a nomination for a Golden Globe Award.
