Beloved television host Larry Emdur has taken to social media to thank his loyal fans for contributing to the ratings success of the popular game show The Chase, joking that he is “a very proud old game show host bimbo”.
The highly acclaimed game show has experienced remarkable success lately, coming in at the top in 2022 ratings after winning 40 weeks with a total audience of 829,000.
Most recently the show screened to an incredible 567,000 viewers across the five-city metro rankings.
Emdur, who took over hosting duties on the show in 2021 took to Instagram to celebrate the game show’s continued success while thanking fans for their support.
“Turns out The Governess is a wonderful babysitter. There are a few words I never thought I’d see in the same sentence,” he wrote.
“Thanks Courtney for sending me this great pic of Piper and thank you everyone else for making The Chase the number 1 Entertainment show in Australia last night, we had a bigger audience between 5-6pm than the big dogs in prime time that makes me a very proud old game show host bimbo.”
Fans were quick to congratulate Emdur on the show’s impressive achievement while praising the 58 year for his stellar hosting skills.
“Larry I love The Chase, you’ve made it your own & put your footprint on it, hence the fantastic ratings. You’re a great guy, big smile & quick wit. Thank you & continue with the No. 1 ratings. You’ve got this,” one fan wrote.
“Congratulations Larry! You will always be the best game show host of all time. You can retire at 70.”
“I have loved The Chase since the English version.. you are by far THE best host!!! Congratulations on the ratings!”
“Well deserved Larry – You make it fun to watch. You’re a great Aussie bloke and you should enjoy all the kudos bestowed on you,” another commented.
“We love watching The Chase! You do a great job.”
Despite Emdur’s popularity among viewers it would seem that there are some who are not a fan of the beloved television personality.
Recently Emdur shared a screenshot of a hateful message he had received from a clearly dissatisfied viewer who asked, “who watches you anyway these days” after calling him a “dead sh*t”.
Rather than cop the vile abuse, Emdur delighted fans after taking an online troll to task, sharing a screenshot of the message to his Instagram page, humorously suggesting the commenter “unfollow” him if he had elicited such a reaction.
“So, two things: Firstly, I 100% agree with you,” he wrote.
“Secondly, and I’m not a qualified doctor, but honestly, you need to unfollow me IMMEDIATELY !!!! and go and follow people on Insta who make you happy, make you smile and bring you joy.
“All the best.”
