Jane Fonda isn’t one to hold back in interviews and the 83-year-old made a shocking confession during a chat with Harper Bazaar this week.
The actress, who has been married and divorced three times, told the publication that she has no plans on getting hot and heavy with anyone anytime soon, but if she did, it would be with a younger man.
“I don’t want to be in a relationship, a sexual relationship, again,” she revealed, Page Six reports.
“I don’t have that desire. Do I fantasise? Yes … That I meet a professor or a researcher, somebody in that line who is really capable of loving, of cherishing a woman, so that I could test myself and see if I could show up.
“I think maybe now I could, but the problem is that, like a man, I would want a younger man. Isn’t that awful? It’s a thing about skin. I would want a younger man, and I’m too vain.”
Jane’s last relationship was with music producer Richard Perry. It ended in January 2017. The actress was previously married to CNN founder Ted Turner for 10 years, but they divorced in 2001. Jane also married politician Tom Hayden in 1973, one year after divorcing film director Roger Vadim, who cast her in the sci-fi film Barbarella.
Jane added that she’s not really capable of intimacy anymore. She then went on to shine light on her past relationships, saying she only got into relationships with men who could teach her new things, and whose lives were different from hers.
When it came to Ted, she said: “You have to learn how to hunt, so I did. You have to learn how to fly-fish, so I did. He liked me to dress sexy, so I did. And so forth. I wanted to. Why be with Ted Turner if you’re not going to allow yourself to be absorbed in his reality and learn from it? And I’m glad I did.”
The movie star and political activist regularly opens up about her personal life in the media and admitted in September last year that there was one male star she wished she’d got it on with. Jane was speaking with the New York Times when she was asked whether it was true that her greatest regret was that she never had sex with Argentine revolutionary Che Guevara.
“No, I don’t think about him,” the Grace and Frankie star said at the time. “Who I do think about, and what is a great regret is Marvin Gaye.”
She added: “He wanted to and I didn’t. I was married to Tom [Hayden]. I was meeting a lot of performers to try to do concerts for Tom and the woman who was helping me do that introduced me to Marvin Gaye.”
