American actress Glenn Close, 73, has sent fans into a tizzy after she shared a throwback never-before-seen picture from her Stepford Wives days — and for good reason.

In the behind-the-scenes picture, the then-57-year-old can be seen wearing nothing but a nude corset, as she poses confidently in full hair and makeup. Glenn played the role of villain Claire Wellington in the 2004 science-fiction comedy.

“Throwback to my dressing room at the Kaufman Astoria Studio in Astoria, Queens, where much of STEPFORD WIVES was shot,” Glenn captioned the post. “Rather elaborate underpinnings! Quite a challenge to wear for a full day of shooting! Beside me are Bill and Petey — my faithful entourage.”

She continued: “Love the crinoline slip in the closet. It was an unexpectedly long shoot. My dear friend Chris Walken and I didn’t know which of us were to be robots until the very end. Ironically, that uncertainty had no impact on our performances!!”

It didn’t take long before fans commented on the throwback picture, with one writing: “I hate the phrase ‘broke the internet’… but this broke the internet.” Another added: “Wow. Wow. Wow!!!” While a third wrote: “Iconic.”

Glenn has been keeping a bit of a low profile recently and was last spotted out and about at the Oscars in 2019. The actress stole the show at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, as she stepped out in a glittering cape and black jumpsuit. The 73-year-old, who’s known for her quirky style, looked seriously cool as she posed on the red carpet in the chic ensemble by Italian luxury fashion house Armani, which included a sheer black layer encrusted with silver rhinestones.

To finish off the standout look, Glenn wore her short blonde locks styled to the side and added simple silver accessories. The screen star was joined by her actress daughter Annie Starke, who also appeared in her nominated film The Wife at the time.

Glenn was considered by many as the frontrunner in last year’s best actress category for her role in the hit film, which follows her journey as she begins to question her life choices and the sacrifices she has made for her husband throughout their relationship. The actress played the role of Joan, who is married to novelist Joe, played by Jonathan Pryce. The honour instead went to Olivia Colman for her performance in The Favourite.
