‘What a dish!’ 1965 footage of kids pining over teachers is priceless

This is pretty hilarious! Source: Youtube - Candid Camera Classics

Having a crush on a teacher was pretty common growing up, and it’s safe to say, it made concentrating on lessons all the more difficult. But what if your classroom crush was broadcast around the world for everyone to see?

That’s exactly what happened to this group of good-natured students in 1965 when they were taken for a ride by popular prank show Candid Camera. The classic video recently resurfaced online and it’s bringing back all sorts of memories of school days past and the hilarious language we used to use among friends.

students are introduced to their new teachers who just so happen to be super foxy, making it very difficult for the kids to contain their disbelief when they’re finally left alone in the classroom.

In the first scenario an attractive male teacher introduces himself to two schoolgirls, before he’s called off to a phone call. The two very smitten girls, immediately burst out into a fit of giggles and whispers.

“His eyes are … ,” one girl said before bursting into laughter. “He’s young too, he must be at least 24,” she said.

In the next scenes three sets of schoolboys are introduced to their new attractive female teacher — and their reactions are priceless.

After the teacher exits the room, the first pair turn to each other, with one saying, “Holy s***,” before laughing and pulling goofy faces at each other. The second pair of boys reaction is no different, however, this time one is laughing so hard he almost falls of his chair.

And the last pair of boys, who seem slightly older, were almost lost for words. Holding their heads, both boys continue saying “oh wow” and “holy mackerel!”, seemingly unable to believe their luck.

Candid Camera is a long-running American reality television series, which initially began on radio as The Candid Microphone in the 1940s. An Australian version began in the late 90s and ran until the end of the century.

The show involved pranking unwitting members of the public with all kinds of mischief. When the joke was revealed, victims would be told the show’s catchphrase, “Smile, you’re on Candid Camera”.

Did you have a crush on a teacher at school? Do you remember watching this show?
