An Aussie to hold court and serenade The Queen

It is one of the biggest honours that could be bestowed upon a musician. Gold Coast musician Cody Simpson will have the honour of the lifetime as he represents Australia for a performance for The Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Speaking to Fairfax Media, Mr Simpson said, “It felt like I was dreaming as to me it is one of the biggest honours that could ever be bestowed upon an Aussie”.  He added, “Representing my country and my hometown of the Gold Coast is something I am very proud of. I still call Australia home, to coin a phrase.

“I am currently scheduled to perform two songs acoustically at the palace — pretty crazy.”

Mr Simpson will be performing at the launch of the GC2018 Queen’s Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games.  The event will see The Queen place her message for the games in the baton that will be highlighted on it’s round the world journey.  The baton will lead to the Gold Coast where the games will be held.  What songs Mr Simpson will play for The Queen hasn’t been reported, but we are sure that The Queen will enjoy this young stars crooning voice.

Do you think that Cody Simpson was a good choice to represent Australia? Who would you like to have seen represent the green and gold musically for The Queen?
