The Sheriff from Santa Fe County has determined the prop gun allegedly fired by actor Alec Baldwin during the accidental shooting on the set of his latest movie was loaded with a lead bullet.

While rehearsing a scene for the upcoming film, Rust, Baldwin allegedly fired the gun, accidentally killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

During a press conference on October 27, Sheriff Adan Mendoza said the “lead projectile that was fired has been recovered from the shoulder of Mr. Souza”.

“We also believe that we have the spent shell casing from the bullet that was fired from the gun,” he said.

The shell casing and the lead projectile along with additional rounds recovered from the set will be submitted to the FBI crime lab.

Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies declined to comment on whether charges would be filed but didn’t rule them out.

“All options are on the table at this point,” she said.

Baldwin took to social media shortly after the incident to convey his “shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins”.
