She’s busy stealing the royal spotlight this week with her daughter Lady Louise Windsor, but it’s not all hard work for Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Prince Edward’s wife, 53, showed off her sailing abilities and beamed with happiness as she took to the high seas with Lady Louise, 14, on Monday, looking effortlessly radiant as she enjoyed the fresh air and wind on the UK’s Solent.
Proving her wardrobe isn’t just full of glamorous ball gowns and dresses for official engagements, she chose a simple light blue t-shirt and knee-length denim shorts for the outing, while wearing her hair tied back and minimal make-up. The pair wore life jackets over their shoulders but appeared to be completely comfortable as they got onboard the Donald Searle.
Both Sophie and her daughter took turns helming the huge boat and happily chatted together with crew.

The pair met a group of young women shortly before, all of whom are currently earning their Competent Crew qualification through the The Association of Sail Training Organisations – which the countess is patron of.
The association itself provides sail training to disabled and young people across the UK.
Former PR worker Sophie married the Queen’s youngest son Prince Edward in 1999 and the couple have two children, Lady Louise and James Viscount Severn, 10, together.

But it’s been Lady Louise accompanying her mum on her recent public engagements. The pair were pictured just hours ago at the final match of the Hockey Women’s World Cup in London.
Sophie looked stunning in a simple brown dress, flecked with a white patterned design, which was shorter than her usual style and sat just above the knee. She completed the look with a pair of tan wedged heels and a pair of studded earrings, while her eye-catching engagement and wedding rings were also hard to miss as they sparkled in the sunshine.
The Queen’s granddaughter Lady Louise wore a cute blue dress which featured a girly white floral pattern with a matching pair of trainers, and mirrored her mum with her blonde hair tied back away from her face.
Sophie, who is Royal Patron of England Hockey, posed for photos with some of the sport’s biggest stars after watching the Netherlands beat Ireland 6-0 to take the title, and took to the field to hand out medals to the two teams.
