You really feel for this poor fellow…. A contestant on US Wheel of Fortune watched a $1 million opportunity slip away with the slip of a tongue.
In his excitement at having landed on the $1 million wedge the contestant Paul Atkinson mispronounces the word “curio” (which was already spelled out) and was dismissed as an incorrect answer.
His poor face drops when game show host moves on to the next competitor, who then clearly enunciates what Atkinson fumbled: “Corner Curio Cabinet.”
The judges were quick to sound the buzzer against Atkinson and the host of the show looked uncomfortable as they went to an ad break, looking to reassure Atkinson.
If Atkinson had answered correctly he was not 100% assured of winning the $1 million and still had to win the game and get through to the $1m bonus round. But what could have been… I’m sure the poor guy is still kicking himself now for the small slip of the tongue!
