We’re already halfway through the year but the streaming services are still bringing an abundance of great shows and movies for our viewing pleasure.

Next month’s lineup is led by the return of the highly anticipated fan favourite, part two of the fourth season of Stranger Things. July 2022 is also bringing a variety of made-for-TV shows and the return of a collection of other renewed TV series.

Without further ado, check out the full list of scheduled TV shows coming this July 2022 below.

TV series coming to Netflix in July 2022

July 1

Stranger Things season 4 vol. 2 – the highly anticipated fourth and final season of the hit Netlfix’s Sci-Fi series, Stranger Things hit screens July 1 offering eager viewers a conclusion to last season’s nail-biting cliffhanger. The second volume of the fourth season will have only two episodes and will run for a whopping two hours and 20 minutes each.

 

 

July 6

King of Stonks– Inspired by real events, King of Stonks tells the story of Felix Armand, an overly ambitious narcissist who seeks startup stardom. In an effort to achieve this he lies, cheats and schemes his way to the top with his less-than-authentic company.

 

July 20

Virgin River season 4- The fourth instalment to Netflix’s American romance drama based on the Virgin River novels by Robyn Carr. The series follows Melinda “Mel” Monroe who moved to the remote town of Virgin River in northern California looking for a fresh start as the town’s midwife and nurse practitioner. Season Four begins with a sense of optimism for Melinda, despite still not knowing whether her baby belongs to her late husband Mark or Jack. The arrival of a new handsome only complicates matters.

 

July 29

Uncoupled- Starring funny man, Niel Patrick Harris, this new Netflix series centres on Michael (played by Harris) who assumed he had the perfect life until his husband of 17 years leaves him. Now Michael finds himself trying to navigate life in New York City as a gay man in his mid-40s. Jeffrey Richman, known for his work on hit shows such as Modern Family and Frasier, is the co-creator of the series alongside Darren Star, who won an Emmy for Sex and the City.

July 6 

Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between- Based on the book of the same title, this movie tells the gentle story of endings and beginnings, and bittersweet first loves as Claire (Talia Ryder) and Aiden (Jordan Fisher) go on one last goodbye date to decide if their relationship is worth continuing.

 

July 8

Dangerous Liaisons- A French film based on the 1782 novel of the same name by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. In a nutshell, Dangerous Liaisons is the modern French version of the ’90s film Cruel Intentions starring Sarah Michell Geller and Reese Witherspoon.

July 15

Persuasion- Netflix turns Jane Austen’s sixth and final novel into a film adaptation starring Dakota Johnson as Anne Elliot and Cosmo Jarvis as Frederick Wentworth. The film will follow the original 1817 story which follows isolated 27-year-old Anne, the middle child of an aristocratic family who finds herself stuck living with her insufferable family and longing after a lost love.

 

July 22

The Gray Man This is an upcoming American action thriller that follows an assassin whose alias is the Gray Man. He’s the CIA’s top asset, but as soon as he uncovers agency secrets a bounty is placed on his head as his ex-colleagues hunt him down.

July 29

Purple Hearts– Another film adaptation, this movie is based on the 2017 book of the same name written by Tess Wakefield. Purple Heart is a romance story that follows an aspiring musician who finds true love with a soldier in an unexpected way.

TV series coming to Hulu in July 2022

July 14

Victoria’s Secret: Angels and Demons — A new three-part documentary series that tells the story of the popular lingerie franchise from its humble beginnings to its position as a global fashion giant. Despite a trailer for the series yet to be released, the series promises to chart the brand’s rise and fall, and provide insight into former CEO, Les Wexner while lifting the curtain on the fashion world.

July 21

Maggie — The single-camera series follows Maggie as she navigates work, her love life, family, and friends while coming to terms with her newfound psychic abilities. Maggie’s life takes an unexpected turn when she meets a mysterious stranger that results in her getting rare glimpses into her own destiny.

Movies coming to Hulu in July 2022

July 1

The Princess- This action-fantasy movie tells the story of a headstrong princess who refuses to marry a sociopath, she is kidnapped and locked up away in a tower while he finds ways to take her father’s throne. The Princess must protect her family and save her kingdom from her vindictive suitor.

 

July 19

Aftershock – The maternal health crisis is put under the spotlight in this hard-hitting documentary. Following the preventable deaths of their loved ones due to complications from childbirth, two families come together in an effort to seek justice and change legislation.

 

TV shows coming to Amazon Prime in July 2022

July 1

The Terminal List– Based on the novel by Jack Carr, Amazon Prime’s latest upcoming American streaming series stars Christ Pratt as Lieutenant James Reece a former Navy SEAL officer who sees his entire platoon ambushed and killed during a high-stake cover mission. A traumatised Reece is faced with conflicting memories of the ambush and goes to lengths to find the truth about what really happened during the traumatic event.

 

July 16

James May: Our Man In Italy Season 1 – Former Top Gear host is visiting his favourite destination, Italy, and he’s taking you along for the ride. Throughout the series, May will examine whether the Italian people have discovered the secret to living the good life through a deep exploration of the country’s food, industry and sport.

Thor: Love and Thunder

In theatres on July 8

Marvel fans will be treated to yet another addition to the Marvel cinematic universe with the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder movie. Directed by Taika Waititi the upcoming film sees Thor (Chris Hemsworth) embark on a journey unlike any he’s faced before. The movie will also see a crossover of Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy as well as a mash-up of new and old allies and villains.

In theatres on July 22

From Oscar-winning creator of Get Out and Us, director Jordan Peele’s third movie Nope tells the story of caretakers at a horse ranch in California who are faced with a mysterious force that affects both human and animal behaviour. While there isn’t much on the story’s synopsis, critics have already praised Peele’s marketing team for creating a suspenseful trailer while keeping the storyline under wraps. However, many are suspecting that the film would be about extraterrestrial beings.

 

The Forgiven

In theatres on July 1

Starring Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain as a couple on the brink of separation, The Forgiven tells of the couple’s cover-up attempts after they tragically run over a teenage boy in their car while holidaying in Morroco. The tension ramps up when the boy’s father confronts the couple, demanding justice.
