Simon Cowell tells Susan Boyle he was ‘disgusting’ at her first audition

It has been 10 years since Susan Boyle first stunned the world with her incredible rendition of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ on Britain’s Got Talent, but now the Scottish singer is competing to take home the title on America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

A sneak peek of Susan’s final performance has been leaked online, which shows her tackling the same Les Miserables tune that propelled her to stardom a decade ago.

But the emotional performance brought back bittersweet memories for judge Simon Cowell, who said he was transported back to Susan’s first ever audition in Glasgow in 2009 whilst he listened to her sing.

“Oh my god Susan,” he said. “That really, really took me back all those years.

“I can remember vividly how disgusting I was on the day before you sang and then what you did and what happened afterwards. And to end the show, it’s been an amazing night, I mean seriously it was fantastic. You’re a champion.”

Susan, who is notoriously shy, then blew Simon a kiss before telling host Terry Crews: “I’ve enjoyed every second and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed being in America. Thank you all so much.”

Susan has been taking part in the champions version of the TV talent show in the United States, alongside other households names such as Brit opera singer Paul Potts, who won the first ever series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2007, and Aussie contestants Justice Crew.

Last month, Spice Girl Mel B gave Susan the Golden Buzzer, which meant she automatically progressed to the live rounds of the competition, before landing a spot in the final, which will air in the US on Monday.

Cowell, 59, has previously discussed his treatment of the two-time Grammy nominee, last year admitting that he “hates himself” for how he acted towards the 57-year-old before he heard her incredible voice.

In the now world-famous audition, Cowell could be seen rolling his eyes and muttering “wow”, as Boyle explained she had never married and that she shared her flat with her cat.

America’s Got Talent: The Champions brings together former winners and standout acts from different versions of the show from around the world.

Are you a fan of Susan Boyle? Do you think Simon was right to admit his past behaviour was wrong?
