Whether you’re in the mood for a gripping crime drama, a laugh-out-loud music quiz, a tense survival thriller or a nostalgic dance classic, there’s plenty to keep you entertained this weekend. Here’s what to add to your watchlist.
Grace – BritBox – Paid Subscription
Fans of British crime dramas can settle back in for another season of Grace, with Detective Superintendent Roy Grace returning to tackle four new investigations in Brighton. Picking up months after Cassian Pewe’s arrest, the latest season sees Grace and his team confronted with increasingly complex cases, while a determined search for the truth has devastating consequences for both Branson and Grace. Based on the best-selling novels by Peter James, the acclaimed series once again stars John Simm alongside Richie Campbell, Laura Elphinstone, Zoë Tapper and Brad Morrison.
Spicks and Specks – Season 13 – ABC iview – Free
Australia’s favourite music quiz is back, with Adam Hills, Myf Warhurst and Alan Brough once again putting celebrity guests through their musical paces. Expect plenty of laughs, quirky challenges and the kind of wonderfully ridiculous questions the show is famous for, including whether music can be made using hospital equipment and what Nessun Dorma might sound like if it were inspired by a butt-scooting dog. If you’re after light-hearted family viewing, this remains one of television’s most entertaining panel shows.
Shelter – Prime Video – Paid Subscription
If edge-of-your-seat thrillers are more your style, Shelter delivers plenty of suspense. Set on a remote coastal island, the film follows a reclusive man who rescues a young girl during a violent storm. As danger closes in, the pair are forced into a desperate fight for survival, with the man’s troubled past threatening to catch up with them. Blending survival drama with emotional storytelling, it’s an atmospheric watch for thriller fans.
The Hawk – Netflix – Paid Subscription
Will Ferrell swaps outrageous comedy for the world of professional golf in The Hawk, a sports comedy series following former golfing superstar Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins as he attempts one final comeback. Refusing to accept that his glory days are behind him, Hawkins sets his sights on completing golf’s Grand Slam, much to the frustration of his family and those around him. Starring Will Ferrell, Molly Shannon and Jimmy Tatro, the series mixes big laughs with plenty of sporting satire.
