Looking for a show that’s equal parts hilarious and heartwarming? Look no further than Lessons in Chemistry, the upcoming Apple TV+ series starring the talented Brie Larson.

Set in the 1950s, Lessons in Chemistry takes us on a nostalgic trip back in time. The vibrant costumes, groovy music, and retro aesthetics are sure to transport viewers to a different era all the while tackling themes that are still relevant today.

Academy Award winner Larson stars as Elizabeth Zott, a scientist who dreams of becoming a doctor. But, like many women of her time, she’s constantly being underestimated and pushed aside.

This dynamic actress is joined on screen by Lewis Pullman, known for his role in Top Gun: Maverick, and Aja Naomi King from How To Get Away With Murder.

Per the show’s synopsis, “When Elizabeth finds herself pregnant, alone and fired from her lab, she musters the ingenuity only a single mother has. She accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives – and the men who are suddenly listening – a lot more than recipes … all the while craving a return to her true love: science.”

In the preview of the series, Elizabeth’s character is told she’s “one of the smartest people in the lab”.

Later, a young girl is shown gazing in admiration at Elizabeth while she appears as the host on the screen, introducing herself as Elizabeth Zott and presenting Supper at Six to the audience.

More than just a drama, Lessons in Chemistry is a story about a woman who refuses to be held back by societal norms and a reminder that we should never give up on our dreams.

Lessons in Chemistry is the latest TV series masterpiece, with acclaimed writer Susannah Grant at the helm and with director Sarah Adina Smith –known for her work in films such as Buster’s Mal Heart, Birds of Paradise, and The Drop –behind the camera, each episode is sure to be a visual feast.

Lessons in Chemistry release date

Lessons in Chemistry is set to make its debut later this year on Apple TV+. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet.

For those eager to follow Elizabeth’s story, you can purchase Lessons in Chemistry on Apple Books in both ebook and audiobook formats. The physical book is also available for purchase in bookstores across Australia.
