Actress Jane Fonda has had another cancer scare. The 80-year-old announced she had a cancerous growth removed from her face, while promoting the new season of her Netflix series, Grace and Frankie, in New York City on Monday.

“I just want to explain the bandage,” she said during a AOL BUILD Series appearance.

“I just had a cancer taken from my lip. I thought it was going to heal in time before I came before you, but it’s fine. I just want to explain it. I don’t normally go around like this.”

The Hollywood star also discussed her cancer scare in an interview on The Howard Stern Show, that same day.

“Hey listen, the world is falling apart, what’s a lip,” Jane joked, adding that her doctor dug into her lip to remove the growth. “Yeah, they did biopsy it. I’m going to be fine, thanks.”

This isn’t her first cancer scare. In 2010, the Oscar winner, removed a small tumour from her breast, People reported.

Dubbed the Queen of fitness, keeping good health has always been important to Jane, who is famously known for her very popular exercise tapes. She told Stern she still exercises regularly to stay in shape — although not as vigorously as she used to. “When you’re older, if you do it very gently and slowly on a regular basis, the aches and pains go away,” she explained.

Jane currently stars alongside Lily Tomlin in the popular comedy-drama Grace and Frankie. The two women play rivals who find comfort in each other after their husbands fall in love with each other and decide they want to get married.

Friends both on and off screen, Jane and Lily told Stern how they love going to work every day at an age when most people are retired. “We crack each other up and we can’t stop laughing. There’s something really nice about pulling through those Paramount gates every day,” Jane added.

Season four of Grace and Frankie is set to premier on Netflix on Friday, January 19.
