It was number one on the Billboard charts for four weeks in 1976 and became the first ever single to be certified platinum by the RIAA.

The song actually featured some hidden musical talent as bassist Bootsy Collins, keyboardist Bernie Worrell, guitarist Glenn Goins, and Dawn’s Telma Hopkins all featured on the record.
