Lotto winners in Australia can choose to remain anonymous and keep their privacy, but, in the US, winners don’t have that choice. 

And, now a woman, who won a $560 million Powerball jackpot last month, is suing lottery officials in the state of New Hampshire for the right to stay anonymous. 

Some winners in Australia choose to remain anonymous to avoid unwanted attention from long-lost relatives, fake friends and scammers, which seems fair. Past winners who’ve revealed their identity in the US and elsewhere have been harassed, scammed and in the worst cases, murdered, according to Boston Globe
