‘Welcome to the world’: Tennis great Ash Barty announces the arrival of her second child

Australian tennis icon Ash Barty has delighted fans across the country after announcing the birth of her second child.

The beloved former world No. 1 took to Instagram to make the announcement, posting a heartwarming photo of her newborn daughter, a “gorgeous girl” named Jordan.

“Welcome to the world, Jordan 💕,” she wrote.

“You are loved unconditionally and we are so grateful to have you in our arms, gorgeous girl.”

Barty’s announcement set off a wave of celebration with messages of congratulations and well-wishes pouring in from fans across the country.

“Congrats!!! She is gorgeous. We hope you create lots of beautiful memories,” one wrote.

“So amazing. Congratulations to you all.”

“So happy for your growing, beautiful family. May you all be showered in love,” another commented.

“Congratulations to you both. Welcome Jordan may you be blessed with good health happiness and love.”

Jordan joins big brother Hayden, who played a starring role in announcing her upcoming arrival last Christmas. In a festive Instagram post shared by Garry, the couple revealed the exciting news with a cute photo of Hayden wearing a shirt that proudly declared: “I’m going to be a big brother.”

“Merry Christmas from our growing family to yours!” he wrote.

While Barty is no stranger to high-pressure moments on the court, she’s admitted that parenthood presents its own kind of challenge. In a candid interview with the Herald Sun, she opened up about the rollercoaster of motherhood.

“It’s been probably the best part of my life, being able to share this next chapter with my husband Garry, and we have no idea what we’re doing but he’s [Hayden] alive and he’s happy,” she told the publication at the time.

Reflecting on the arrival of their second child, she added, “Terrified for what is going to come next but we’ll figure it out, I’m sure.”
